Kelbermans's Self-Advocacy Group (U.S.A.) Hard at Work
The Utica Self Advocates have been hard at work, channeling their energy into projects that strengthen both their group and the broader community. At the Walk for Autism, the group hosted an information table and ran a carnation sale fundraiser. Proceeds supported future advocacy initiatives, helping the group continue to build momentum and expand its impact. Their advocacy efforts have also extended into local transportation. The group recently contacted Centro to request the addition of a bus stop at the Link at Sunset - an important step toward improving accessibility for community members. They’ve now received confirmation that their request is under review. Through planning, fundraising, and direct advocacy, the Utica Self Advocates are demonstrating what meaningful community involvement looks like. Their work continues to pave the way for greater inclusion and accessibility in the Mohawk Valley.
