What is a DSP?
At Kelberman, DSPs play a vital role in delivering individualized, person-centered services. Working directly with individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities, DSPs focus on skill development, behavioral support and progress toward personal goals.
This role is hands-on and deeply impactful. DSPs are not just caregivers; they are mentors, advocates, companions and facilitators of independence. Their responsibilities include making inclusion possible, promoting safety and well-being, building skills and confidence and acting as advocates for people to communicate their needs and goals. By providing this level of support, DSPs contribute directly to enhancing the quality of life for the people they support.

Working as a DSP at Kelberman helps build a powerful set of professional and interpersonal skills - all while making a difference in the lives of others. DSPs strengthen their ability to work effectively with people with developmental disabilities, gaining hands‑on experience in person‑centered support and individualized care. They develop strong communication skills through daily collaboration with individuals, families and interdisciplinary teams, learning how to advocate, problem-solve and respond with empathy and professionalism.
Becoming a DSP offers more than just a job - it offers a deep sense of purpose. Each day brings the opportunity to empower someone to live more independently, reach personal goals and feel valued within their community.
